Announcing two new Sunday Tournaments!

Announcing “Prince of Paupers”

Omens of the Past is finally out, and the long awaited Pauper tournament is here! Build your best decks with only commons and showcase some of the cool new cards we’ve got to play with. Which faction will reign supreme when commons clash?

When: Sunday, July 23rd, beginning at 12pm EDT. Registration deadline is 24 hours before the event.

Special Rules

All cards of common rarity are legal, including Omens of the Past cards and power. All cards of uncommon, rare, promo, and legendary rarity are banned, including power. Seats, Monuments, and Diplomatic Seal are not legal for this event.

The decision to restrict power was made because Pauper decks already have access to Seek Power, Banners, and fixing Strangers, meaning they’re missing only the Seats and Seal in terms of fixing. Power bases may be slightly weaker, but they should be sufficient for two faction decks (or ambitious Amber Acolyte fueled three faction decks).

The tournament will be following our standard Swiss format, with a cut to top 8 once the Swiss portion of the event is complete. Decks are standard size (minimum 75 card main deck, maximum 15 card sideboard). We’ll be using the standard ruleset, found here.

Prizing

1st Place: $50 cash prize

2nd Place: $25 cash prize

3rd/4th Place: $10 cash prize

Prizes are distributed via PayPal. This tournament does not award points of any kind and is not tracked for Hall of Fame records.

Announcing “Set Two Showcase”

A few weeks into the new set, players should have got their feet under them and started to figure out what the new Set Two metagame is going to look like. What better time then to go for a what if scenario: what if Set Two was really Set One? Play with only Set Two cards and see what you can build with the single smaller set!

When: Sunday, July 30th, beginning at 12pm EDT. Registration deadline is at 6 PM EDT.

Special Rules

All non-power cards from The Empty Throne and Jekk’s Bounty are banned. Promo cards are legal (since they’re released outside of Sets). Power (including Monuments) is exempt from set restrictions and Seek Power is legal.

In the what if scenario, adequate fixing would have been added to Set Two to support single set play, so the seats, seek power, etc are legal. Promos would have been released alongside Set Two (and some have Set Two flags anyways).

The tournament will be following our standard Swiss format, with a cut to top 8 once the Swiss portion of the event is complete. Decks are standard size (minimum 75 card main deck, maximum 15 card sideboard). We’ll be using the standard ruleset, found here.

Prizing

2nd Place: $25 cash prize

3rd/4th Place: $10 cash prize
